We’re down to our last three days here. Can you believe it’s been six and a half months? I’ve been terrible about writing about it, but there will probably be some nostalgia posts soon.
Last night I took my last trip to the grocery store that sells Rugby World Cup gear and local microbrews in liter bottles with homemade labels. Tomorrow is Wes’s last day at the preschool where kids are encouraged to use rusty saws, nails and hammers to fashion sculptures out of splintered wood. I was hoping to squeeze in one more ride before packing up my mountain bike, but the trails are too soggy today (the price we pay for year-round greenery).
I thought I could have a fling with New Zealand then go back to my normal life unscathed. But I’m deep in the kind of love that makes you think her foibles are adorable.
Sunday we start a crazy, month-long journey back to San Luis Obispo by way of Auckland, Melbourne, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Seattle. We plan to stay there through the school year.
After that, we’ve got some tough decisions to make.
